it's been a long time.

my blog is an outlet to extend my creativity and hopefully inspire others along the way.
we've been a busy little family these past months and in turn, my blog has suffered some serious neglect. welcome new followers and to those that have stuck with me, thank you.

our sweet baby boy is due to arrive mid feb! we've been excitedly preparing a new nursery and shared bedroom for our girls. and i've been busy cramming in as many design clients in before the year is through.

i'll be back this week with another things i love post!
{maybe if i proclaim that here, it'll actually happen!}

{i design} preschool flyer.

Here's a recent project for the GBPPP, Grand Boulevard Parent Participation Preschool, to promote their program and advertise their open enrollment. I provided them with a fun colourful double-sided flyer to hand out to area residents!

{i design} hello elsie thelma.

i love what i do. in the midst of heavy workload and deadlines, i get to pop in a few of these extra special projects for family and friends. my sister-in-law gave me the honor of designing her precious little girl's birth announcement. the colours were inspired by elsie's eclectic nursery and the words hold an extra special meaning. i love it, down to every last pixel.

{i design} preschool anniversary poster.

a few weeks back, through twitter, karen of new and green baby called for a volunteer to design a poster for the Grand Boulevard Parent Participation Preschool's 50th anniversary celebration. i happened to spot her tweet and jumped at the chance. it was an exciting piece to design. there is nothing better than a client giving a designer complete creative freedom. best of all, i made a connection with a great new client and it's led to more design work!

{i design} a few recent projects.

lately i'm early to rise and late to bed with an overflowing plate of design work.
being busy is wonderful. being overwhelmed is not.
i'm in the midst of polishing off a volusion website customization
and then i may just try to stick to smaller scope projects
such as blog design, branding, and ad design for the summer months.
there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to invest in large projects nowadays
in between all of the tea parties, puddle jumping, and lego building!

here are just a few of the projects i've been working on...

Your At Home Team launched their new website this week.
I designed a fresh, clean look for their site implemented by
Sallie & David have been clients of mine for over 5 years.
It's been amazing to see how their business and branding has evolved.

Just In Case - Today is a life binder that'll keep everything you need organized
in once place in case of emergency.
I've designed a crisp, professional brochure-style site
that'll launch later this Spring!

this project proves that twitter is a fabulous networking tool.
I met a delightful new client through volunteering for a design project...
and it led to some advertisement design work.
a full page ad for new & green baby co.
an online cloth diapering boutique

Though I no longer have a hand in managing weekly Cuddles. I do love designing marketing materials and graphics for True Cuddles. They'll be attending a few tradeshows and fairs this Spring. And, they've been stocked with fresh new postcards and business cards to pass along.

while daddy took the girls on a little adventure {to buy formula on sale!}
i sunk into my desk chair & finally implemented my new blog look.

things i love tuesday. my creative space.

my office

welcome to my creative space.
my office. my sewing room. my drawing room. all in one.
eventually i'll have a craft heaven when our basement is complete...
but until then, when i have time to be creative - i do it in here.
i love this room.
it's elegant with a twist of modern.
the first room guests see when they walk through our front door.
it's functional. it's personal.

Photobucket

the things i love most about this space are...

1. my super long multifunctional desk
custom built with several peices from IKEA, my desk is home to my work PC {which has seen better days} and on the opposite end, a cozy spot to pull out my sewing machine which is tucked neatly in my giant white uber organized bookshelf

2. my tea cup clock
i am amazed this clock has held up through multiple moves, even countries! it's not only one of my favorites in my office, but in our entire home. purchased from umbra, my tea cup clock strikes conversation with everyone that sees it {it'd be super easy to DIY!}

3. my cozy corner
the perfect spot to flip through a mag or watch my toddler play her preschool games on the computer... plus with south-facing windows, it gets ample warm sunlight

4. my art
i adore the prints i've collected from etsy, though my corner walls are screaming for more. i can't wait to hang our beautiful family portraits from michelle wells photography

5. my photo carousel
in the corner, i have a photo & postcard carousel perfect for displaying black & white photos of my little ones. i love that i can easily swap new ones in... and my daughter LOVES to look through her old photos and reminisce of her trips to grandma's, baba's and disneyland.

6. my bergsbo bookshelf
if only it'd stay looking so pristine, my giant bookshelf is home to knick knacks, art & sewing supplies, and office goods. my wireless printer and sewing machine even fit inside!

{logo design} flourish.

flourish logo

my big sis has started a little hobby of jewelry making.
she is very wonderful at it & i'm excited for her.
she plans to attend a few local craft fairs
& offer up her beautiful creations for fundraisers
for her children's school & church activities.

we brainstormed a fabulous name this week
& i designed a delightful little logo for her...
followed by display & packaging cards for her creations.

i was so happy to dig out my drawing hand after nearly a year
& get back at illustrating!

it's taking me everything not to dig up my old colorful kisses supplies
& get back to making felt flower hair clips! maybe i'll join her at a few fairs...

a modern mickey birthday. sneak peek.

modern mickey birthday

i haven't given my design blog some love in over a week.
admittedly we've been distracted with nursery design...
laying sod in our new backyard...
and... my baby's third birthday party tomorrow.

she has a love for all things mickey mouse.
so we're hosting a modern mickey birthday at our local splash park.
i just finished custom labelling the water bottles for guests...
and i'll be sure to share more photos after the big bash is over!

lily's sweet shoppe.

Lily's 9th Sweet Shoppe Party

if i could. i would sit at my desk & design pretty party decor all day long.

i was excited to offer my help to my sis-in-law who just threw her oldest daughter, lily,
a pool party bash! the theme... bright playful colors, lollipops, and sweets galore!

i designed the invites, a birthday banner, water bottle & candy jar stickies, & cupcake toppers!
she did such a wonderful job decorating!

{websites} Bugalug.

Bugalug Website

My most favorite client! Bugalug's been undergoing a massive overhaul of their marketing and online presence... and I'm honored that they've chosen me to work with them.

This site has been a long while in the making, a hefty combined effort for all of those involved, but the outcome is fabulous! This was my first Volusion site customization. A bit of a learning curve for me {I did have my doubts about the flexibility} but I love a challenge.

I also had a hand in photographing the product {bows, non-slips, and loops} which was a nice change of pace!

We're currently working on a few enhancements and kinks, but welcome you to browse and shoppe the fresh new Bugalug website!

{websites} LifeAid.

LifeAid™ is a Saskatoon-based leading emergency response system for the delivery of first responder services. I originally redesigned LifeAid's site nearly two years ago, however, with the expansion of their system services and market, they came back requesting another redesign. LifeAid's brochure-style website offers an abundance of information on their product, it's advantages, and market solutions.

{i design} dr. melissa jones biz & appointment cards.

Melissa Jones Business Cards

i recently completed a business card design for my cousin melissa. the simplistic cards coordinate with her new web presence and function as an appointment card as well!

tip.
i've been using psprint.com for years for printing needs, for both clients and my own marketing. shipping to canada is a little steep, but with their ridiculously inexpensive prices, they're still a fabulous deal. you won't be disappointed with the quality and turn-around time!

right now, their business cards are 60% off!
check them out!
